The Fort Lauderdale vacation house is about 2.5 blocks from the beach. There is a fully equipped kitchen to prepare food or you can order in from the local restaurants. The beach is amazing for a family, and very relaxing. The kids love to play on the sand for hours. There is also have a hot tub in the backyard. The house is a short drive to the beach with more activity (including a playground on the beach and a pirate ship boat cruise for the kids). The house is in close proximity to many restaurants and conveniences (including the urgent care clinic, which we have visited for ear infections, etc.).

There is a kid's camp that is operational year-round within 5 miles of the house. The kids love going to this camp--they have snorkeling, swimming, arts and crafts to keep the kids occupied during the day while the parents can relax. It is nice to get away without any passports. You can also rent a car at the airport--all major car rental places are attached to the airport. No shuttles are needed and this is a huge time saver for car rental returns on the way back home.
